Moscow, 2025 — Food waste has long been perceived as an unsolvable problem. However, today it is becoming a crucial resource for energy production, fertilizers, and even new materials. The world is rapidly moving toward a circular economy, and organic waste recycling technologies play a key role in this process.
In the article "Food Waste — Technologies Changing the World," we explore five advanced solutions already implemented in different countries. Biogas plants generate electricity and heat from organic waste, Composting 2.0 accelerates decomposition to just a few weeks, hydrothermal carbonization transforms food waste into carbon fuel, insect farms create biomass for animal feed, and controlled biofermentation opens new horizons in waste processing.
Positive changes are also taking place in Russia: startups are emerging, legislation is improving, and closed-loop complexes are being developed. This opens up new opportunities for business, energy, and the agro-industrial sector.
